The Bronte Fit Guarantee
If your first suit does not fit, we alter it or remake it free within 90 days, and we pay the shipping both ways.
If your first Bronte suit does not fit, we will alter it or remake it free within 90 days of delivery, and we will pay the shipping both ways.
That is the whole guarantee. The rest of this page explains how it works, so there is nothing to discover later.
You are buying a suit you have never touched, cut to measurements you took yourself, from a company you have not met. That is a reasonable thing to hesitate over.
The guarantee exists to move that risk from you to us. We think the risk belongs with us: we are the ones who wrote the measuring instructions, built the software that reads your photographs, and drafted your pattern. If the result is wrong, it is our problem to fix, and fixing it should not cost you anything.
Your first suit, jacket, waistcoat or trousers made by Bronte, for 90 days from the day it is delivered to you.
Within that window, if the garment does not fit, we will do one of three things:
Alter it. Most fit problems are ordinary tailoring: a sleeve a centimetre too long, a waist that needs taking in, a collar that stands away. We send you a prepaid label, the garment comes to our atelier, it is altered, and it comes back. Turnaround is usually five to ten days at the atelier, plus shipping.
Remake it. If the problem is structural — the shoulder is wrong, the balance is wrong, the pattern does not match your body — altering it would be a compromise. In that case we make the suit again, from a corrected pattern, in the same cloth, at no cost. You keep the first one.
Refund it. If we cannot make it right, we refund you in full and you keep the suit. This is rare and we would rather it did not happen, but you should know it is there.
Which of the three applies is decided by a tailor looking at your photographs, not by a policy. We tell you which one we are doing and why, in plain language, before anything happens.
Send us a Fit Check. Wear the suit, take four photographs — front buttoned, back, left side and seated — and tell us where it feels tight or loose by tapping the places on a diagram of the body. It takes about five minutes.
A tailor reviews it within two working days and replies with one of: it fits, and here is why; we are altering it, and here is what we are changing; or we are remaking it, and here is what went wrong.
If we are altering or remaking, a prepaid shipping label is issued to you automatically. You do not have to ask, and you do not pay postage in either direction.
Damage and wear. Tears, burns, moth damage, stains, and the ordinary wear of a suit that has been worn are not fit problems. We will repair most of them through Atelier Online at our normal prices, and we will tell you the cost before we start.
Changes to your body. If your measurements change after we cut, that is not a fault in the suit. We will alter it at our normal alteration prices, and the first alteration on any Bronte garment within the first year is half price.
Change of mind. A suit cut to your measurements cannot be sold to anyone else, so we do not offer a change-of-mind return on made-to-order garments. This is why we built the Fitting Room: see the cloth, the cut and the detail on a figure built from your own measurements before you commit.
Alterations made elsewhere. If another tailor has already altered the garment, we can no longer tell what was ours and what was theirs, and the guarantee ends. Talk to us first — it costs you nothing and it keeps the guarantee alive.
Ties, pocket squares, belts, braces and cufflinks can be returned unworn, in their original packaging, within 30 days, for a full refund.
The guarantee ends, but we do not disappear. Atelier Online will alter anything we made, at our published prices, for as long as the garment exists. Send it in and it comes back right.
Measure yourself. Order the suit. Wear it. If it is wrong, tell us within 90 days and we will fix it free.
