Two different things

A made-to-measure suit and a pocket square are not the same kind of purchase, and they do not get the same policy.

Made-to-order garments — suits, jackets, trousers, waistcoats and shirts cut to your measurements — are covered by the Bronte Fit Guarantee. If it does not fit, we put it right free.

Everything else — ties, pocket squares, belts, braces and cufflinks — can be returned unworn within 30 days for a full refund.

Made-to-order: the Bronte Fit Guarantee

If your first Bronte garment does not fit, we will alter it or remake it free within 90 days of delivery, and we pay the shipping both ways.

How to start. Send a Fit Check from your order page. You wear the suit, take four photographs — front buttoned, back, left side and seated — and mark on a diagram where it feels tight or loose. It takes about five minutes.

What happens. A tailor reviews it within two working days and gives you one of three answers:

• It fits. We tell you why, in three sentences, and point out anything that is normal but might feel unfamiliar.
• We are altering it. We list exactly what we are changing, issue you a prepaid label automatically, and alter the garment when it arrives. Typically five to ten days at the atelier, plus shipping.
• We are remaking it. We correct the pattern, cut the suit again in the same cloth, and send it to you. You keep the first one. Typically three to four weeks.

What it costs. Nothing. Not the alteration, not the remake, not the postage in either direction.

If we cannot make it right, we refund you in full and you keep the garment.

Why we do not offer a change-of-mind return on made-to-order

A suit cut to one person's measurements cannot be sold to anyone else. Accepting change-of-mind returns would mean destroying the garment and pricing that loss into everyone else's suit.

Instead we spend the money on getting the decision right before you order: the Fitting Room shows the cloth and the cut on a figure built from your own measurements, every fabric page gives the weight, weave, season and composition, and the price updates live as you choose each option. If you want a second opinion before committing, book a twenty-minute consultation with a tailor. It is free and there is nothing to buy at the end of it.

When the guarantee does not apply

• Wear and damage. Tears, burns, moth holes and stains are not fit faults. We will repair most of them through Atelier Online at our published prices, and we will quote you before starting.
• A change in your measurements. If your body changes after we cut, the suit was right when it was made. We will alter it at our normal prices, and your first alteration on any Bronte garment within twelve months is half price.
• Alterations by someone else. Once another tailor has worked on the garment we can no longer tell our work from theirs, and the guarantee ends. Ask us first; it costs nothing.
• Second and subsequent suits. The guarantee covers your first garment. In practice, if a later suit is wrong and it is our fault, we fix it — but the promise we are making in writing is about the first.

Accessories and non-measured goods

Return anything unworn, in its original packaging, within 30 days of delivery, for a full refund to the original payment method.

Start a return from your order page and we will email you a label. Return postage is free on orders over $75; below that it is $12, deducted from the refund. Refunds are issued within three working days of the parcel arriving, and take a further three to five days to appear on your statement.

We cannot accept a tie or pocket square that has been worn or a belt that has been punched or cut to length, because neither can be resold.

Faulty goods

If something arrives faulty or is not what you ordered, tell us within 30 days and we will replace it or refund it in full, including postage both ways. That applies to made-to-order garments as well as accessories, and it is in addition to your statutory rights.

Cancelling before delivery

• Before the pattern stage: cancelled and refunded in full.
• Between the pattern stage and cutting: refunded in full apart from the cost of the cloth.
• After cutting has begun: we cannot cancel, because the cloth is cut to your shape.
